| Brad Calhoun, 28, is a Solution Architect for Automated Publishing Solutions, Inc.
He directs the specific technical architecture design in support of
the overall technical architecture direction specified by the Chief Software Architect.
He works with the Chief Architect and other Solution Architects to set
standards and ensure the consistent application of architectures,
business logic, and documentation for interoperability, scalability,
and dependability.
Brad delivers component-based technical architecture solutions to
end-user customers. He also guides and advises the Project Manager for
each project, ensuring that the Chief Architect's decision and common
vision is communicated and properly executed for each project. He
develops relationships with vendors providing products and/or services
in the related technologies in order to gain a forward-looking vision
of the direction of the technologies. He co-founded APS in January 2003.
Brad began his professional career with GE in 1994. He has developed
control systems for many industries including Pulp & Paper,
Chemical, Food & Pharmaceutical, and Publishing. Brad became
proficient with programmable controllers, has utilized database
schemas for workflow processes, and has developed client/server
applications using VB.
Brad began his Publishing experience at the Washington Post in
Springfield, VA (1996). He developed the client/server application for
the Atlanta Journal-Constitution towed-conveyor roll handling
automation project (1999). His most recent endeavor involved the automation of two mailrooms for
the Arizona Republic in Phoenix, AZ (2000).
The mailroom automation project at the Arizona Republic involved
the integration of an entire inserting control system. The system
included an interface to the Burt Preprint Planning System, six
Heidelberg 2299 inserters, graphical user interface, serial interface
& control system integration to Quipp stackers & Squid Ink
bottom wrap printers, advanced reconciliation features including
zero-gap technology, control system integration of 12 single-line and
6 three-line marquee displays and associated drives and
controls.
Brad has interfaced with many customers and developed friendships
with each customer.
He has served as the lead engineer or technical consultant for the The Arizona Republic, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Orlando Sentinel, Dallas Morning News,
Omaha World Herald, Chicago Tribune, and Washington Post.
Mr. Calhoun holds a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida (1999) and a Masters degree in Engineering from the University of Florida (2002). He lives in Pensacola,
FL and is single with no children.
